About us

We built this because we needed it ourselves.

Namaste Seniors is run by people who have sat in the hospital corridor at 2 AM. Here is who we are, how we train our caregivers, and why they stay.

Our story

It started with a fall nobody told us about

In 2019, our founder Meera Iyer was working in Singapore when her father fell in the bathroom of the family flat in Malleshwaram. He did not call her. He did not want to worry her. She found out four days later, from a neighbour.

What followed was the scramble every family knows: flights, agencies, a rotating cast of strangers who lasted two weeks each. Nobody was in charge. Nobody knew her father's history. Every problem started from zero.

She came back to Bengaluru in 2021 and started Namaste Seniors with a single idea: one person who knows your parents, and who answers when you call. Today we look after 340 families across Bengaluru, with 62 caregivers and 18 Care Managers.

Why we exist

"The agency sent someone new every fortnight. My father stopped learning their names. That is the problem we set out to fix."

Where we stand today

Small enough to know every family, big enough to show up

Our caregivers

Six weeks of training before anyone meets your parents

We do not hire from agencies. We recruit, train, and employ our caregivers ourselves, at our academy in Indiranagar. Every one of them completes the full six weeks and passes the assessment before their first visit.

  • Weeks 1–2

    Elder care fundamentals

Mobility support and safe transfers, fall prevention, personal hygiene and dignity, nutrition for common conditions, and how to notice a change in someone before they mention it.

  • Week 3

    Medical basics

Blood pressure and blood sugar readings taken correctly, medicine schedules, recognising the warning signs of a stroke, a cardiac event, and a hypoglycaemic episode.

  • Week 4

    Emergency response

Certified first aid and CPR, our SOS protocol step by step, and hospital escalation practised until it is automatic.

  • Week 5

    Dementia and dignity

Working with memory loss without correcting or arguing, managing sundowning, and β€” the part we care most about β€” how to be a companion, not just a helper.

  • Week 6

    Supervised placement

Ten shadowed visits alongside a senior caregiver, then a practical assessment. Roughly one in three trainees does not pass, and does not join.

  • Every quarter after that

    Refresher training

Two days each quarter, plus a review of any incident, so nobody's training is three years old.

Background verification

You are letting someone into your parents' home

We take that seriously. Every caregiver and Care Manager clears all six checks below before they are hired β€” not after, and with no exceptions for urgent placements.

Verification is carried out by an independent agency, and re-run every two years for everyone on our team.

  • βœ“Police verification filed with the Bengaluru City Police.
  • βœ“Aadhaar and address confirmed against current and previous residence.
  • βœ“Two employment references spoken to on the phone, not just collected on paper.
  • βœ“Criminal record check through an independent verification agency.
  • βœ“Medical fitness including a tuberculosis screening.
  • βœ“In-person interview with two of our senior Care Managers.
Why our caregivers stay

A job with a ladder, not a rotating door

The reason agencies send a different person every fortnight is that nobody stays. Caregiving is paid badly, treated as temporary, and offers nowhere to go.

We pay a salary rather than a daily wage, with health insurance and paid leave. Eleven of our eighteen Care Managers started as caregivers on this ladder. Our team stays an average of 2.7 years β€” and the families feel that more than any promise on a website.

The Care Manager career path

  • Year 0

    Caregiver

Six weeks of academy training, then placement with three to four regular families.

  • Year 1

    Senior Caregiver

Mentors new trainees on their shadowed visits and covers complex cases.

  • Year 2

    Care Coordinator

Takes on doctor and hospital coordination, and is trained on the family reporting side.

  • Year 3+

    Care Manager

Runs a caseload of up to twelve families as their single point of contact.

Our promises

Four things we will not do

Every care company lists what it does. These are the lines we have decided not to cross, and you can hold us to them.

We will not send a stranger

Your parents meet every caregiver before their first shift. If someone must be covered, we tell you who is coming and why, in advance.

We will not hide bad news

If a caregiver was late, if a reading was missed, if we made a mistake β€” it goes in the update. You should never learn something from your parents that we knew first.

We will not upsell a frightened family

If Care Essential is enough for your parents, we will tell you so, even on the call where you are ready to buy Premium.

We will not sell your family's data

No advertisers, no insurers, no data brokers. Your parents' health information is theirs. See our privacy policy.

Three years, and it has been the same two faces at my mother's door. She calls them family now, and honestly, so do we.
